Recycle your old car and give to charity at the same time.

Giveacar is a social enterprise founded by University graduate Tom Chance. Tom has used his entrepreneurial knowhow to plug a hole in the U.K. market for scrapping cars for charity. This is something that has been going in the U.S. for some time.

So how do you go about it?

Visit the Giveacar website or ring them on 020 0011 1664. They will arrange for a collection agent to pick up your car at a convenient time. This will usually be done within 3 days of you making that call. Depending on the car’s state, it will then be sold at an auction or disposed of through an Automated Treatment Facility (ATF).

The good news for the environment is that if it is disposed of through an ATF, at least 85% of the weight of the car will be recycled. The profits from the scrap of, or sale of, the car will be donated to the charity of your choice, minus the Giveacar administration fee.

If you would like to nominate Action 21 you will find us listed under environmental charities on the Giveacar website.
